What Dermal Fillers Do at The Confidence Lab

Dermal filler is hyaluronic acid gel placed beneath the skin to restore volume that has softened and to define a contour you want sharper.

Relaxed woman in her early thirties seated upright in a treatment chair, glancing off camera
Where It Works

From the lips and cheeks to the temples, jawline and the area under the eyes. Each area takes its own gel thickness, placed at its own depth.

What You See, and When

Volume shows the same day. Swelling settles over about two weeks, and the settled shape is the result that lasts.

Who Places It

Board-certified or licensed providers, who map your face before the first injection and check the result again once it settles.

Reversible If You Change Your Mind

The gel is hyaluronic acid, so an enzyme can dissolve it, which makes filler one of the more forgiving aesthetic choices.

Quoted at Your Consultation

Cost follows the areas treated and the amount of gel they take, so the assessment comes first and costs nothing.

Your Filler Visit, Step by Step

Before

Arrive with the area clean and makeup-free so your provider can read your natural symmetry. If you take a blood thinner, talk to the prescriber who wrote it before pausing anything. Go easy on alcohol the night before, and tell us if you bruise easily so technique can be adjusted.

During

You stay upright and fully dressed. Numbing goes on first, and most of the gels we use carry their own anesthetic, so you feel pressure more than a pinch. Your provider places product a little at a time, checks your expression between placements, and hands you a mirror partway through.

After

Most clients drive themselves home and go straight back to work. Skip hard workouts, saunas and hot yoga for 24 hours, use cool compresses that evening, and sleep with your head raised. Lips can feel tight for a day or two. Book your two-week check before you leave.

When Will I See My Filler Results?

Filler shows right away, then settles. Here is what the first two weeks look like and how long the result holds.

Day 0

Volume is visible as soon as you sit up. Mild swelling and the odd pinpoint bruise are normal at this stage.

Days 3 to 5

Most swelling has eased, and lips look much closer to their finished shape. Any bruising is easy to cover with concealer.

Day 14

The settled result. Your follow-up visit falls here, and this is when a small refinement gets planned if one area wants more.

Months 6 to 18

The gel breaks down gradually, lips sooner and cheeks, jawline and temples later. Topping up before it fully fades keeps the shape steady.

Who Dermal Fillers Are For

Filler answers volume and contour rather than surface texture. The consultation is where we confirm which one you are seeing, and it costs nothing either way.

A good fit if…

Client holding a hand mirror up to her face, studying her cheek contour before a dermal filler consult

Your lips have thinned, or you want more shape without an obvious change

Cheeks or temples have flattened and your face reads tired rather than rested

Smile lines or marionette lines stay visible when your face is relaxed

You want a sharper jawline or a stronger chin profile

Hollows under the eyes cast a shadow no matter how much you sleep

You had filler elsewhere and want a softer, more natural result

Consider an alternative if…

Pregnant or breastfeeding

We hold off as a precaution, so book the consultation and we will map a plan you can start when you are ready.

Lines that appear only when you move

Those usually respond to a wrinkle relaxer, which we also place here.

An active breakout or skin infection at the treatment site: come in anyway, and we will settle the skin first and schedule filler after

An event inside two weeks

We can still see you and time placement so the result has settled by the date.

Skin texture, tone or laxity as the main concern: bring it to the consultation and we will walk you through the skin treatments we offer

Pro Tips From Our Injectors

Start conservative

Adding a little at the two-week check is easy. Taking product away means dissolving it, which resets the whole area.

Treat the cause, not the shadow

An under-eye hollow often responds better to cheek support than to gel placed directly under the eye.

Plan around the calendar

Swelling is mostly gone by day five, but book two to three weeks ahead of a wedding or photos so the settled result is what the camera sees.

Bring an older photo

A picture of yourself from a few years back shows your provider where volume used to sit, which is a better guide than a celebrity photo.

Protect the skin on top

Daily sunscreen and steady skin care keep the surface healthy over the volume you restored.

The Science Behind Filler

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule your skin makes on its own, and it holds many times its weight in water.

Why Volume Fades

Production slows from your mid-twenties, collagen thins, and the fat pads of the face shift downward. Cheeks flatten, lips lose their border, and folds deepen.

What the Gel Does

Cross-linked hyaluronic acid placed at a chosen depth lifts tissue, supports the structure above it, and draws in water to hold the shape.

Why RHA Moves With You

RHA gels are cross-linked to stretch and compress, so a treated cheek or lip still looks right in expression.

Why It Fades Gradually

Your body breaks the gel down over months, and an enzyme can dissolve it sooner, so nothing placed is permanent.

Dermal Fillers in Powell, Ohio: Your Questions, Answered

How much do dermal fillers cost?
Filler is priced per syringe, so your total depends on the areas you treat and how much gel each one takes. Rather than quote a number that may not match your face, your provider assesses the areas at the Free Aesthetics Consultation and gives you a written quote before anything is scheduled. CareCredit financing and HSA or FSA cards are accepted.
Is the filler consultation really free?
Yes. The Free Aesthetics Consultation for dermal fillers costs nothing and carries no obligation, and the check-in after treatment is free as well. Book online or call (614) 219-9983 and we will find you a time that works.
Will my filler look natural?
That is the goal, and it comes from conservative dosing and placement mapped to how your face moves. Your provider adds product a little at a time, hands you a mirror partway through, and would rather add more later than overshoot on the day. RHA gels flex with expression, which helps the result read as yours.
Does filler hurt?
Most clients describe it as pressure with a brief pinch. Topical numbing goes on first, and most of the gels we use carry their own anesthetic. Lips are the most sensitive area, while cheeks and the jawline are usually easier to sit through.
How long does lip filler last?
Lip filler typically holds six to nine months. Cheek, jawline and temple filler lasts twelve to eighteen months, and under-eye filler about nine to twelve. Your metabolism, the area and the gel chosen all move the number, and your provider will give you a realistic range for your plan.
How soon will I see results?
Volume is visible as soon as you sit up. Most swelling eases by day five, and the settled result shows at about two weeks, which is when your follow-up visit is scheduled. Lips settle a little faster than cheeks, and if you have an event coming up, book far enough ahead that the settled shape is what people see.
Is there downtime after filler?
Very little for most clients. Expect mild swelling for two to five days and the occasional pinpoint bruise for up to a week. Most people drive themselves home and return to work the same day, skipping hard workouts and saunas for the first 24 hours.
Which areas can dermal fillers treat?
Lips, cheeks, temples, jawline, chin, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and the hollows under the eyes. Each one needs its own gel and placement depth, which your provider maps at the consultation before anything is placed.
How many syringes will I need?
It depends on the area and the change you want. Lips often take one syringe, or the mini treatment for something subtle. Cheeks commonly take one to two per side, and jawline contouring usually takes more. Your provider builds the plan with you and can stage it across visits.
Can dermal filler be dissolved?
Yes. Every hyaluronic acid filler we place can be dissolved with Hylenex, an enzyme, and most of the change shows within 24 to 48 hours. That reversibility is one reason it is the standard choice for facial filler.
What is the difference between RHA and Versa?
RHA, short for resilient hyaluronic acid, is cross-linked to stretch and compress with movement, which suits lips, cheeks and smile lines. Versa is a thinner formula with smooth, uniform particles that gives an even, full lip with less swelling. Your provider recommends one based on your anatomy and goal.
What is SkinVive, and how is it different from filler?
SkinVive places microdroplets of hyaluronic acid just under the surface of the cheeks to improve hydration and smoothness instead of adding volume in one spot. It suits skin that looks dull or crepey when the shape is already where you want it.
Should I get lip filler or a lip flip?
Lip filler adds volume with hyaluronic acid gel. A lip flip uses a few units of wrinkle relaxer to roll the upper lip outward for a subtle pout with no added volume. Many clients combine the two, and the consultation is where we work out which suits your goal.
Can I get filler and a wrinkle relaxer in the same visit?
Yes, and many clients do. Filler restores volume that has softened, while a wrinkle relaxer quiets the muscles behind movement lines. Your provider plans placement so the two treatments work together, and can tell you at the consultation whether a line needs volume, a relaxer, or both.
Who performs filler injections here?
Filler at The Confidence Lab is placed by board-certified or licensed providers. You can read their full bios on our about page.
Can I get filler if I had it somewhere else?
Yes. Bring what you know about the earlier work: the product, roughly when it was placed, and how much. Depending on how it has settled, your provider may suggest dissolving some of it first, and will explain the reasoning either way.
Can I have filler while pregnant or breastfeeding?
We hold off on filler during pregnancy and breastfeeding as a precaution. Book the consultation anyway: your provider will map a plan you can start when you are ready and talk through the skin treatments that suit you in the meantime.
How often will I need a touch-up?
Most clients top up lips once or twice a year and cheeks every year to eighteen months. Topping up while some product remains usually takes less gel than rebuilding the area from scratch, so your provider will suggest when to come back.
